From the history of the Proton launch vehicle.

Proton was created as a combat complex capable of carrying a nuclear charge of tens of megatons.

Designer Vladimir Chelomey developed a unique layout of the rocket, in a short time a whole family of universal rockets appeared.

Since its creation, Proton has flown in three modifications - UR-500, Proton-K and Proton-M. A total of 384 launches have been made since 1965.

Professor Sergey Khrushchev, designer Oleg Ivanovsky, employees of the Khrunichev RCC Alexander Simonenko and Yuri Smirnov shared their memories of the work.

Ivanovsky O.G. is a Soviet engineer, designer of rocket and space technology, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky.
